Hats

Shaylee has been busy learning how to loom.  She has made 3 darling winter hats.  They are so cute!  She made one for herself which is the white/cream one, colorful one for Amberly and the soft pink one for her new baby sister who will be here in December or January!  I can't wait to put the soft pink hat on her little head!

24 weeks along & a long rode ahead...

On September 23rd we had a doctor's appointment at St. Joseph's Hospital at the Congential Heart Center. We had a fetal echo of our baby girls heart defect.   After 2 hours of having three cardiologists take a look they had answers for us.  We left 3 1/2 hours later with some overwhelming news!

What is it? Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return
What is this? In this defect, the pulmonary veins, which carry oxygen-enriched (red) blood from the lungs to the heart for pumping to the body, are "anomalous," or abnormal with respect to how they return to the heart.
All we really know about this pulmonary vein is they are watching it very carefully because this is there main concern.

What is it?  Single Ventricle
What is this?  Single Ventricle refers to a group of congenital heart defects in which the heart functionally has only one pumping chamber.  In the normal heart, there are two pumping chambers, the right and left ventricles.
What are its effects?  In Single Ventricle, there is complete mixing of the blood returning from the body with blod returning from the lungs.  Therefore, blood leaving the heart through the pulmonary artery will have basically the same exygen content as that leaving the heart through the aorta on its way to the body.  The infant can become cyanotic ("blue"), with insufficient blood flow to the lungs and inadequate oxygen supply to the body.
Sometimes babies with this defect can act well and feel well. More often the babies have too much blood going to their lungs and they do not gain weight normally. Occasionally it is too hard to get blood to the aorta and the babies can become very sick. Sometimes medicines can help the baby grow better and sometimes there are surgeries that can be done.
Basically what all this is saying is that they are surgically going to have to make one large pumping chamber heart.

They told us that if she is doing well when she is born she will go through three surgeries by 2 years of age. The first one will take place immediately after she is born and the recovery is 4-6 weeks in the hospital if everything goes well. The second will be at 4-6 months old & the last surgery will take place at 2 year old.  We are prepared for the best and the worst.  We feel very blessed to have such amazing doctors that are extremely intelligent and know what they are talking about.  Our appointment was a success and we met some very amazing people who will help us get through this trial in our life.  We are thankful for a loving Heavenly Father who knows what is best and will help us get through this trial once again.

BOO Blocks!

I am getting really anxious to start decorating for the holidays! My sister Jana and I just made these BOO blocks last week and she has decided to sell them for $15.00 a piece. They are adorable, easy and fun to make! If you want a set let me know!

It's that time of year again to plant a garden...

This is such a great time of year I love it because it means it's going to start getting cooler! We still have a couple of weeks but it's getting closer! I love the excitement my children have to help plant a garden especially my little boy Rylan. He absolutely loves it!!! Keith is a great example and teaches him the importance of a garden. It is so fun to see them working together! I love partaking of the food when it is ready to harvest!

Friends!

The other day as I was decluttering (thanks to the retreat for the motivation) some very sweet friends showed up at my house with this darling frame with a very special picture of them inside! I started to cry of course cause I just love friends who show me they really care! The back of the frame says, "We wanted to boost your spirits a bit cuz we know you've been feeling blue. When this picture frame has done it's job pass it along and someone else can feel the friendship too!" I loved this it made my day! Thanks ladies! I love you so much!

Harmony Park Women's Retreat

The them this year at the retreat was WE ARE FAMILY! We have an amazing ward! The past 3 years they have had a women's retreat for all the Relief Society Sisters. I have enjoyed them and got closer to sisters I would may have never sat down to visit with. This year we had amazing teachers who taught us the importance of taking good pictures, organizing and documenting them, organizing kids stuff, cookbooks. I was inspired and hope to take this seriously and do this. I know the importance of family history and know my kids will one day appreciate all the work put into it! I am grateful for the many hours spent to plan these special retreats and for the men who take time out of work to cook for us!

Play day with a friend!

What would we do without friends? These two love to play together! They constantly tell each other you are my friend, you are my friend. I was watching Autumn last week and she showed up with the cutest little hairstyle (way to go Julie) and Amberly insisted she have me fix it just like Autumn. So I attempted to try and we took cute friend pictures.

We had a wonderful Labor Day weekend celebrating with Bryce & Chelsey! They were married on September 5, 2009 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. We were excited to celebrate this special day with them! I could not find my camera so the pictures will come later after I get them from my sister or Chelsey! I can't wait to see them myself! The girls looked so pretty & we had a blast!

Family Home Evening!

Monday night we had a wonderful family night on testimonies. We made "bear" cookies to remind us to "bear" our testimonies to our family members & others. I challenged them to share their testimony at church and they challenged me...oh no!

Some changes in our home!

Shaylee has always wanted to share a room with her little sister Amberly...so we broke down and bought bunk beds!  They have been so fun!  (making the beds are another story)  It is so fun at night to see the two sisters sleeping in the same room...it is very sweet!  We are trying to get the rest of the room decorated with what we already have...it's been a fun project!

School & baby!

So many things are happening in the Bloomfield home!  The kids started school in August and we have been truly blessed with amazing teachers.  Shaylee is now in 5th grade and has Mrs. Brown. She is a wonderful teacher and Shaylee loves her so much!  Rylan is now in 1st grade and has Mrs. Benson.  I can't believe he goes all day!  He had a hard time adjusting to it but is now doing great! Amberly started Preschool with Mrs. Christie and is so happy to finally be going to school like her sister and brother!  I started taking an institute class on Thursday's and I love it...so we are all being educated in some way or another.

We have had a couple things come into our life we kind of didn't expect but we know our Heavenly Father is aware of what we are going through and he will not leave us alone.  Our sweet little baby GIRL who is growing quickly has a severe heart defect and other complications.  The doctors can't believe we've already had one who suffered a heart defect and died but we are truly hoping for a miracle this time!  It is a great comfort to know so many love us and are praying for our family!  We appreciate everything and feel your love!  Here are a couple of pictures of our sweet little baby girl!  We feel so blessed!

Isn't that the cutest little bum you've ever seen!  These ultrasounds are amazing!
